The Control Samples page logs quality control (QC) samples used to verify the validity of analytical results, per EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 §7.7.1.

A CRM is not merely "a sample with a known value": it is the link that ties your measurement to a recognised reference. So the record holds, alongside the value, the certificate it comes from and the uncertainty of the certified value per element.
An expired lot is not accepted. If the expiry date falls before the control's date, the server refuses the save. The check holds on creation and on editing — the edit dialog is usually where an expiry gets backdated, and on an edit the rule is applied to the final values, not only to what changed.

The header's Status comes from the results and nothing else. It is re-derived after every save, so a form that loaded a stale status — or a hand pick — cannot overwrite the truth the approval gate keys on.
