Sample Status Logs

The Sample Status Logs page shows every status change a sample went through: from where, to

where, when and by whom. It is a read-only record — nothing here is entered by hand.

Menu path: Logs → Sample Status Logs.

Columns

ColumnDescription
SampleThe sample that changed status.
FromThe previous status. Empty on a sample's first entry.
ToThe new status.
WhenThe moment of the change.
ByThe user who caused it.
NoteThe reason, where the transition demands one (rejection, cancellation and so on).

Connects to

  • Samples — every row points at one sample.
  • Sample Statuses — the vocabulary behind the From and To values.
  • Audit Trail — this log is the third layer of traceability, beside field diffs and database

triggers. It answers "how did it get here", not "what changed".

  • Vertical audit pack — the status path goes into the analysis file.

If this is missing

  • The page cannot be missing: it is written automatically. The gap you may see is an empty note

on a transition that ought to explain itself. A cancellation with no reason is a valid row and an

unanswered question under audit.

  • A sample that appears to have skipped statuses usually means a bulk action. The row shows who

performed it.
