Shipments

The Shipments screen manages sending samples or measurements to external laboratories for subcontracted analysis (ISO/IEC 17025 §6.6). Each shipment groups measurements going to one approved external supplier.

Workflow

1. A shipment is created as a Draft with the measurements to send; the related samples move to the Subcontracted status.
2. Open the shipment and review its contents (samples, elements, measurements).
3. Press Pack & Ship and fill in the courier, the tracking number, and the expected return date. Confirm that the samples are packaged and press Ship.
4. The status becomes Sent. When the package returns, press Mark Received and the status becomes Received.
5. When the results arrive, bring them in from External Results; once every measurement in the shipment has been ingested, the status automatically becomes Completed.

Notes

• You can send samples only to an approved supplier (§6.6.2).
• If the expected return date passes, the shipment is flagged as overdue.
• A draft shipment can be cancelled with a recorded reason.
