Why this LIMS

The problem we solve

A Greek soil, water or environmental testing laboratory today operates on a thin margin. ESYD accreditation pressure against ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is constant, assessors demand a complete record for every critical decision, and manual or hybrid record-keeping — spreadsheets, paper forms, ad-hoc tools — turns every assessment visit into a risk event. A gap in the documentation chain, an overdue calibration that went unnoticed, a conformity decision without a recorded decision rule: any one of these is enough to trigger a non-conformity.

At the same time, generic enterprise LIMS platforms (LabWare, STARLIMS, Labvantage) were built for large-scale pharmaceutical or petrochemical labs. They are powerful, but:

  • licensing and implementation costs are out of scale for a typical Greek laboratory,
  • configuration requires external consultants over long timelines,
  • terminology, reports and documentation are English-only,
  • the workflows do not match ESYD practice or Greek lab reality (farmer customers, soil composition, seasonal sampling).

Agrometrisis fills that exact gap: a LIMS designed from day one around ISO/IEC 17025 and ESYD expectations, for Greek laboratories, in Greek.

The positioning: what makes us different

First, the help system follows the Diataxis framework (tutorials / how-to / reference / explanation) and every page is wired to the corresponding standard clause through an ISO 17025 clause map. When your assessor asks "where do you document §7.8.6.2?", the answer is not "somewhere in the binder": it is one click.

Second, content is Greek-first and fully bilingual. Not machine translation: every page is authored in professional Greek first, then mirrored into English for your international or multinational customers.

Third, the data model is ISO 17025-aware by construction. This is not a generic LIMS with a compliance add-on: decision rules, conformity statements, personnel competency, calibration and the audit trail are first-class entities of the schema.

Three things a generic LIMS does not do

  1. Decision-rule + conformity-statement subsystem. Every measurement is automatically evaluated against the laboratory's stated decision rule (simple acceptance, guard band, conservative with uncertainty). The PASS / FAIL / INDETERMINATE verdict appears live in the measurements grid and locks report approval whenever it is missing or indeterminate — with explicit override by Lab Director or Reviewer, audit-trail capture, and reference to §7.8.6.2.
  2. Automatic calibration, competency and accreditation-scope guards. Before any analysis record is approved, the system automatically checks: is the instrument inside its calibration window? Does the analyst/approver hold an active competency for the method and the function (ANALYSIS, REVIEW, APPROVAL, OPINION_RELEASE)? Is the method covered by the laboratory's accreditation scope? When something is missing, approval is blocked until the gap is resolved or a documented override is applied.
  3. Full audit trail by default + ISO 17025 audit report scoring 100% Compliant in-scope (137/0/0/4 clauses, §§4-8). Every create, update, delete, override and approval is recorded with user, timestamp and justification. Narrative fields are numbered with the ISO 17025 clause they serve, so an assessor can see immediately where each one is documented. The internal ISO/IEC 17025:2017 audit closed on 11 May 2026 with a score of 137 Compliant / 0 Partial / 0 Gap / 4 N/A out of 141 clauses — that is, every clause within software scope is covered in code.
