Worklists

This guide describes the step-by-step process for creating and managing worklists. Worklists group samples by lab method or instrument for more efficient batch processing.


Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure the following data exists:

Tip: Create samples first and ensure their status is "Received" before adding them to a worklist.

Step 1 — Navigation

Go to the Worklists page from the main menu. A table of existing worklists is displayed.

The visible table columns are:

Step 2 — Creating a Worklist

Click the "+" button on the toolbar to open the creation form.

Fill in the fields:

  1. Name — Descriptive title (for example "ICP Heavy Metals — 02/04/2026")
  2. Date — Creation or execution date
  3. Lab Method — The analysis method (required)
  4. Status — Initially "Open"
  5. Notes — Additional remarks

Step 3 — Adding Samples

After saving, open the worklist in edit mode. Below the basic fields, the "Samples" section appears.

Click "Add Samples" to select samples from the list. You can add multiple samples at once.

Samples are displayed with their code, client and reception date.

Step 4 — Entering Results (Bench-sheet)

When the worklist has samples and the method defines elements, a measurement grid (bench-sheet) appears: rows = samples, columns = the method's elements. Every method column stays visible so you can key across the whole grid.

Key values fast directly in the cells, without the mouse:

  • Tab → next cell across the row
  • Enter or → same column, next row down
  • → same column, row up
  • On focus, the cell's value is selected for instant overwrite
  • Decimals accept comma or dot (e.g. 6,8 or 6.8)

As soon as you edit a cell, the "Save Measurements" button appears (with an "Unsaved changes" hint). Click it to save the whole grid.

Saving runs the ISO 17025 checks — e.g. if an instrument doesn't meet requirements (calibration/verification overdue, §6.4), the save is blocked and the blocking instrument is shown inline in the dialog.

Alternatively, "Import Measurements" loads values from a file or paste.


Step 5 — Closing the Worklist

After all samples have been processed, change the status to "Closed". A closed worklist serves as a historical record.


Step 6 — Search & Filtering

Type in the search field for quick text filtering.

FAQ

Can a sample be in multiple worklists?

Yes, a sample can belong to multiple worklists — for example one for ICP and one for AAS, if different analysis methods are required.

How do I reopen a closed worklist?

Open the worklist in edit mode and change the status from "Closed" to "Open".

What happens if I remove a sample from a worklist?

Removing a sample from a worklist does not affect the sample's data or its measurements. Only the link is removed.

Do I have to close worklists?

It is not mandatory, but recommended. Closed worklists serve as a record of completed batches.
